Did you know that Leavenworth had a series of tunnels built in the late 1850’s that ran from the river to the basements of the downtown? Said to be used to haul coal, to run alcohol during prohibition, and even used for stores? There are only a few portions still standing, and below Candle Queen Candles we have about 15 yards of it that you can see! 

      This tour is NOT handicapped accessible. You will take our stairs to the basement and then enter the dirty floor tunnel. 

     The tour is 30-45 minutes. Candle Queen will give you a history talk on her building and personal stories about the tunnel. Then a local historian will guide you downstairs and tell you all about the Leavenworth history and the tunnels. 

   Please arrive at Candle Queen Candles about 10-15 minutes early to show a “screenshot” of your online purchase at the the register. There are no “paper tickets.” Wear tennis and comfy clothing.
